TVs are used to be the pride and centre of every living-room – instead of a dominant black surface, OLED Shelf is designed to create a product experience that goes beyond the traditional narrative of entertainment and more importantly considers its impact as an interior object that adds value to the living space, even during of off-time of the display. The guiding idea of the OLED Shelf is to dissolve its perception as a display to bring family members together in a homey environment. Moving away from 16:9 - the square shape is not associated with a screen. A reinterpretation of the use of displays at home, based on maximum integration into the living space.

The approach: technology should only appear, when it’sneeded. The OLED shelf reflects this approach in the amount of visual content, that is oriented towards the use case. The black light shutter is rollable, only appears, when high contrast is needed, while the size depends on the content. Otherwise, you can enjoy the beauty of the transparent OLED technology, that integrates seamlessly into its surroundings while the shelf itself becomes a high-quality piece of furniture.

OLED Shelf is intended to break the rules of with the classic TV archetype – however, the departure from the classic 16:9 format not only serves formal aesthetics, it also offers entirely new possibilities in the user experience while leaning on the most natural form of a shelf. The decision is on you: You want to watch a movie with subtitles? Get a bigger screen. Additional information required? Use the full screen! The OLED Shelf even allows you to enjoy multiple contents simultaneously, such as a conference mode for overlapping sport events, without sacrificing active screen area in the main spot.

OLED Shelf is designed to radiate subtle warmth and convey a sense of wellbeing. The minimalistic frame can be used as a wall washer light to set the ambiance of the living room, making it a perfect gathering spot for family and friends, just like the traditional fireplace used to be.
